It is never too late to start a hobby!

Allotments were originally introduced by philanthropic Victorians to promote healthy living for factory workers — and their benefits remain just as powerful today.

At Red House Farm Allotment Society (RHFAS), we continue this tradition with a vibrant, welcoming community focused on health, wellbeing, and growing together.

BENEFITS OF GARDENING

Gardening is great for your body, mind, and wellbeing. From gentle exercise to homegrown food and stress relief — it’s a healthy habit that grows with you.

FANTASTIC FAMILY EVENTS

We host fun events like our popular Scarecrow Competition — great for families and all ages to enjoy.

NO TOOLS REQUIRED

Don’t worry if you’re just starting out. Our members are a helpful bunch, and someone’s always happy to lend a hand or share a tool.

🌱 Who We Are

RHFAS is a fully self-managed, volunteer-run society.
We are not council owned or funded, and we rely on the dedication of our members to manage and maintain our two beautiful allotment sites.

Whether you’re an experienced grower or a curious beginner, we offer a friendly space to grow your own food, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.

🏡 Since 1993 (And Beyond!)

Although the current lease has been in place since 1993, our roots go back over 80 years. RHFAS includes:

  • A main site, bordered by Churchill Playing Fields and Alder Grove
  • A smaller extension site at the end of Dene Gardens, near the Metro Bridge

Our volunteers — under guidance from the committee — manages the sites, upholds the lease, and supports our growing community.
